Amalgamated Software of North America Inc. (San Antonio) is partnering with Advanced Business Link Corp. (Seattle) to integrate ABL's High Speed Messaging into ASNA's Visual RPG (AVR) business application development environment.
The integration will allow AVR applications to utilize ABL's BusinessLink/Remote connectivity to the AS/400. BusinessLink High Speed Messaging (HSM) is a new communications technology used to connect remote clients to the AS/400 over services such as dial-up, wireless and the Web. BusinessLink/Remote accesses the AS/400 without a protocol converter, ASCII controller or Client Access.
Eduardo Ross, VP of research and development at ASNA, says current AVR users will reap many benefits from this new alliance.
"By utilizing the facilities provided by ABL, our AVR users will be able to move large files from the AS/400 to PC clients over unreliable or slow lines," he says. "ABL also offers the ability to manage the process of automatically updating and distributing programs to large numbers of users. Just one command does it all."
Ross says AVR users will also be able to bring down spool files generated by AS/400 programs called using AVR's Call/PARM facility, and view and print those files.
