ADVANCED BusinessLink announces webCluster®, an innovative technology that allows iSeries 400 developers to build highly scalable, distributed web applications.
iSeries 400 sites typically have multiple hosts within their organization, often in different locations. Exchanging data between them for use in a web or traditional application had been limited to file transfers or legacy database visibility technologies (DDM, ODBC, etc). These lack the performance for high volume web applications and raise security issues, particularly when communicating across the Internet. They are also based on moving the database contents to a central system for processing without using the business logic or horsepower already existing on the various systems.
webCluster® links the hosts together so that each system can participate in the processing for a web (or legacy) application. "Performance gains are very significant against the alternatives" says Chris Lategan, BusinessLink CEO. "webCluster® is inherently very fast, even across the Internet. Imagine multiple, distributed hosts, transparently working in parallel, achieving previously unreachable processing throughput for distributed applications."
Existing legacy logic on each host can be fully utilized so that much less data volume is transferred between hosts and results are live rather than one host being constantly out of step with the other.
Industrial strength security makes webCluster® perfect for interconnecting hosts over the Internet. Security features include 128bit SSL, Digital Certificate based Host Identification (bi-directional) and Dynamic Challenge-Response Keys.
webCluster® is 100% compatible with BusinessLink's High Speed Messaging (HSM) transactional messaging middleware. Prerequisites are OS/400 v4r2 and BusinessLink's Strategi middleware. Availability Immediate.
